We thought we’d take a look at the most popular pages on South Africa’s Agribook website.
After the home page, which heads up the charts again this week, our “Agriculture in the Provinces” page is the most visited. With few exceptions these are the two which dominate the top positions of our chart since the Agribook website began.
“Agricultural education and training” comes in at position 3. For six weeks over Christmas and the new year this page was at number 1. Its presence in the Top 10 is appropriate considering that this project had its origin in requests for agricultural training to our Skills Training call centre more than two decades ago (which at that stage didn’t include agriculture).
This week “Agricultural shows and events” is at position 4, the top page from our “Marketing and finance” section. This topic wasn’t covered in our first two hardcopy versions (2004/5 and 2007) but has proven to be a top attraction to our website.
“Animal improvement and breeders“, the top livestock page, is a relatively recent entry to our Top 10 but has been a regular here since January this year.
In position 6 is “Finance for new farmers and SMMEs” followed by “Fresh produce markets” in 7, both from the earlier mentioned “Marketing and finance” section. These two have been regulars in the Top 10 for years.
Surprisingly “Rabbits” comes at 8, higher than “Beef cattle farming” which is at 10 this week.
At position 9 is “Careers and employment in agriculture.”
Bubbling under are “Pork and pig farming“, “Vegetables“, “Citrus fruit” and “Environmental legislation“, all of which have made appearance in the Top 10 but are not there this week. If you are not familiar with the Agribook website, please feel free to explore our overviews of the different parts which make up South Agrica’s agri-food value chain. Find the “Chapters” menu option at the top of the page.
You are welcome to drop us a message if you can’t find what you are looking for.
